Determining Training and Performance Needs

In this three-day course, you'll learn the methods of the performance technologist and apply them to a current project of your choosing. After conducting the performance analysis, you'll conduct a thorough training needs assessment to determine jobs and tasks to train, objectives and assessments, critical tasks, and appropriate delivery methods. Following the two analyses, you'll practice individual and group interview skills and plan a survey. Throughout the course, you'll work with a real-work project. Topics include:

  • Introduction to Assessments
  • Conducting a Performance Analysis: key factors of a PA, the PA report
  • Conducting a Training Needs Assessment (TNA): learner analysis, delivery analysis, task analysis, planning the evaluation, the design document
  • Individual interviews: deciding who to interview, plannign the interview, conducting the interview
  • Group interviews: types, conducting group interviews, observations, and surveys
